Chaining Am and F on the piano: Which inversion should you choose to facilitate the transition?

Enchaîner Am et F au piano

As you can see in the video, we chose the 1st inversion of the F chord which is very close to the agreement of The minor not reversed.

Am de base And F - 1er renversement

Connecting Am and F on the piano: What are the fingerings to fluidly connect these 2 chords?

The steps to easily link these 2 chords are as follows:

  1. Place your thumb on A, your index finger on C, then your ring finger on E (A not reversed)
  2. To continue with the F chord, keep your thumb on G and your index finger on C. Then, play with your pinky finger F instead of E. As you can see, only one note changes. in fact, the E played with your ring finger becomes F played with your little finger.

Chaining Am and F on the piano: What are the advantages of this sequence?

  1. Your hand hardly moves from the Am chord to the F chord.
  2. Only one note changes to go from the Am chord to F.
  3. With its fingerings you can string together your chords without looking at your hands.

Chaining Am and F on the piano: Two other ways to chain these chords

  1. Connect the chord A minor 1st inversion (Fingerings 1, 2, 5) with F 2nd inversion (Fingerings 1, 3, 5).
  2. Connect A minor 2nd inversion (Fingerings 1, 3, 5) with basic F (Fingerings 1, 3, 5).
