The rhythm of the song is also important to consider for singing. It is advisable to sing the song following the rhythm of the guitar, especially during the instrumental passages, to maintain coherence and homogeneity throughout the song.
To perfect the interpretation of “Imagine”, it is important to work on the accuracy and placement of your voice. Practice singing with the guitar and our score, then record yourself to listen to your performance and correct it if necessary.
Regarding the verses of Imagine, the song is quite simple to sing, just stick to the notes of the verse and don't add too many ornaments. It is important not to linger too much on the words “imagine” and “you” which come up frequently in the song, so as not to weigh down the whole thing.
Pay attention to “you-ouh-ouh-ouh” and “Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah” for which the notes are: mi, sol, mi, re, do). They are high and must be sung in head voice. Also pay attention to the descending notes on the chorus phrases say-ay-ay-ay and day-ay-ay-ay (si, do, si, la).
The rhythm of the song is also simple and regular, with chords played on every beat of the bar. However, you have to pay attention to the transition between C and Cmaj7 for the song to sound correctly. This transition can be tricky and is the only difficulty in placing Imagine chords.
In fact, it's about setting your C major 7 chords to the fourth beat each time, except that the song is not always rhythmically aligned to the fourth beat. So this requires understanding and isolating the rhythmic placement of the guitar and voice!
By downloading our Imagine Guitar Chords sheet music in pdf, you will be able to see the chord diagrams as well as the finger positions to play them. By carefully following the chords, you will quickly be able to play and sing “Imagine” with ease.
The guitar chords in Imagine are quite simple and accessible to beginners. There are 7 chords in Imagine: C major, F major, A minor, D minor, G major and E major.
Note that the chords of C major 7 and D minor bass C can be replaced by a simpler equivalent: C major and D minor simply!
It should be noted that the F major (F) played during the verse is actually an inverted F (as depicted in the chord diagram). In addition, it is important to correctly position the little finger on the Dm/C.
