Shotgun

Shotgun george ezra piano

To play this version of “Shotgun”, it is quite simple to become familiar with the following four chords: F (F), B (B), D minor (DM) and C (C). These chords will be played in the same order throughout the song, making them easier to remember.

All the Chords are reversed here, apart from the Bb (Bb), so that you can chain your chords more easily.

The F chord is played with the thumb on A, the index finger on C, and the little finger on F.

Next, the B flat (Bb) chord is played with the thumb on Bb, the middle finger on D, and the pinky finger on F.

The D minor (Dm) is played with the thumb on A, the major on D, and the little finger on F. You can see that to chain the chord of Bb (Bb) with Dm (D minor), you just need to slide your push from Bb to A.

Finally, the C (C) chord is played with the thumb on G (G), the index finger on C (C) and the ring finger on E (Mi).

This is one of the simplest ways to string these chords together.

Now that you know the necessary chords, let's move on to the rhythm. In this version of Shotgun, you will play quarter notes and quarter notes.

Whole notes are notes that last four beats. You play them by holding down the chord for the duration of the whole note. This creates a sustained tone that contributes to the atmosphere of the song.

On the choruses, you will have to play eighth notes on the first and second beats. This amounts to playing quarter notes but the sound lasts half a beat. You play them by attacking the keys of the keyboard more quickly and going straight back up. This produces a shorter, percussive sound.

By combining the chords F, B, D minor and C with the rhythm of whole notes and quavers, you will be able to play Shotgun's version effectively and faithfully to the original.

Don't hesitate to practice slowly at first, paying close attention to smooth transitions between chords and maintaining a precise rhythm with the beat. With practice, you will become more and more comfortable and you will be able to play Shotgun with confidence and pleasure.

SHOTGUN PIANO

This version of Shotgun takes up the previous one but the left hand is more provided and rhythmic on the choruses. Worked well in the piano lesson on eighth notes. If this seems a little too complicated for you, switch to the beginner's version.

Our advices : take care of your chords and chord changes by slowly working on each part of the song. Then, go through the different parts of the piece slowly at first, then gradually increase. Also don't hesitate to play it a little faster to be comfortable compared to the original speed.
