Bass slides

How to slide on bass?

The bass slide is a bass playing technique which consists of quickly sliding, or not, a finger of the left hand
(if you are right-handed) along a string to change notes. This technique is often used to create transitions
fluids and variations rhythmic in a bass line.
In practice, the slide on bass is played by pressing a note with one finger of the left hand, then sliding quickly
this finger along the string towards another note, without lifting it from the string. This creates a quick transition effect between notes
which can be used to add variety and interest to a bassline.
The bass slide is particularly effective when combined with other bass playing techniques, such as
hammer-ons, the pull-offs and bends. Using these techniques together, the bassist can create dynamic basslines
and expressive that add color and character to the music.
The bass slide is an important technique for any bassist to master, as it creates smooth transitions and
rhythmic variations that make the music more interesting. By practicing this technique regularly, you will be able to
improve your finger dexterity and your left/right hand coordination, which will allow you to expand your range of techniques
playing bass and expressing your musical creativity.
