Song 2

Song 2 blur drum tab

In this adaptation of the song “Song 2”, adjustments have been made to the drums to make synchronization easier for a beginner drummer.

Song 2 blur drum tab: Sustained tempo

Since the tempo is quite fast, the verse motif, normally played in eighth notes on the hi-hat, is here played in quarter notes. Indeed, playing eighth notes at 130 bpm takes a little practice. The verses will be played with the closed hi-hat, while the choruses will use the open hi-hat.

Song 2 blur drum tab: 2 simple rhythms

You will only need to know two rhythms (Variation 9 and 12-Quarter note Hi-hat) which you will use throughout the song. In addition, the crash game has been simplified, because it will only be necessary to place it on the first beat (every other measure during the choruses).

These changes were made in an effort to make drumming more accessible to beginning drummers who want to play this song. By using simpler rhythms and simplifying the crash playing, it will be easier to adapt to the song and stick to the tempo. This will allow budding drummers to fully enjoy the experience of playing “Song 2” without feeling overwhelmed by the technical difficulty.

Song 2 blur drum tab: Simple but effective version

It's important to note that even though this simplified version was created for beginner drummers, that doesn't mean it loses its appeal or energy. Rather, it retains the essence and impact of the original song while making it more accessible to a wider range of musicians.

In summary, this adaptation of “Song 2” simplifies the drums to allow beginner drummers to quickly get stuck into the song. The hi-hat and crash playing has been adjusted to make learning easier, while preserving the essence of the song. Now budding drummers can enjoy playing this iconic song without feeling overwhelmed by its complexity.

Song 2 blur drum tab: verse Rhythm

In the original version of “Song 2,” the verses are played with an eighth note pattern on the closed hi-hat. It's true that playing the verses on the eighth note at 130 bpm requires a little work, but this tempo remains accessible with a little practice.

Song 2 blur drum tab: choruses Rhythm

The choruses use a quarter note pattern on the open hi-hat (Variations 1, 4, 9 and 12). For crash playing on choruses, a specific technique can be used. Play the 4th beat crash with your right hand and the 1st beat crash with your left hand. This approach will allow you to start strengthening your left hand (or weak hand, if you are right-handed).

Song 2 blur drum tab: Left hand work

By regularly practicing this crash configuration, you will gradually develop coordination between your two hands and improve the strength and precision of your left hand. This is particularly beneficial for right-handed drummers, as the left hand is often under less stress and may need strengthening.

Song 2 blur drum tab: Practical advice

Remember, practice is key to mastering these techniques. Dedicate time to regular training and focus on adjusting tempo and coordinating movements. With perseverance, you will be able to play the verses on the eighth note and execute the crash playing on the choruses with fluidity and precision.

Keep practicing, exploring different rhythmic variations and adapting to the demands of the song. When you are comfortable with this version of “Song 2”, you can progress to the adapted version in uncrossed play in order to strengthen your left hand even more.

Song 2

It is almost the same version of Song 2 than the previous one but I suggest you play your choruses in uncrossed.

Song 2 blur drum tab: Uncrossed play

It's your left hand that will play your hi-hat, which is very destabilizing at first because it will ask your brain and your body to reverse everything. However, it is a great exercise to strengthen your left hand. With a little practice you will discover new sensations and new gaming possibilities that you did not have in crossplay. To start playing in uncrossed play, I recommend initially playing slow and rhythmically quite simple pieces.
